Stonyhurst Summer School
Stonyhurst Summer School is located in northern England and has a traditional boarding school feel to it. The language school has a target range of 10-16 years of age and overall courses are highly academic. Class sizes are small, teaching takes place in 5 ability levels and there is 23 hours of classroom tuition per week. Progress tests coupled with four 45 minute homework periods each week reinforce the emphasis on academic rigor.
Outside of the classroom students can enjoy all the benefits of the Stonyhurst campus that includes quality accommodation including en-suite shower rooms and regular laundry. There is an all-weather pitch, indoor swimming pool, tennis courts, shooting range and a 9 hole golf course. There is supervised afternoon recreation and evening entertainment plus 2 full-day and 2 half-day fun filled excursions per course. Overall, students enjoy a happy and productive learning holiday in a family atmosphere with access to some of Britain's most beautiful countryside.
Stonyhurst College is the oldest Jesuit school in the world and as such the building is steeped in history. Students will enjoy a personal tour of our museum collection, which includes; 50,000+ rare books and objects, including a Shakespeare First Folio, a first edition of Mozarts Requiem, paintings by Rubens and Turner; and items from Pompeii.
Intensive English course following a text book which the students will keep. Additionally, students may choose to participate in examination preparation classes for 'The Cambridge Preliminary‘ (PET), ' The Cambridge Advanced' (CAE) or 'The Cambridge First Certificate' (FCE).
