Academic choice: A Levels, IB & the Super-Curriculum

Malvern pupils achieve excellent A Level or IB results. Around half of the Sixth Form choose the IB, which the school has taught with great success for more than 30 years. Small classes, dedicated teaching staff and a culture of academic ambition ensure thorough preparation for university and beyond.

The pupil-led Super-Curriculum invites students to think independently, pursue their own interests and develop ideas beyond the classroom.

British heritage, global outlook

Malvern’s character lies in the blend of tradition and internationalism. Pupils from over 30 nations bring diversity and perspective, with around 35% of the school community coming from overseas. The result is an inspiring environment where global ideas flourish, yet the school remains firmly rooted in its British identity.

Sport & Music

Malvern offers tailored pathways for talented athletes and musicians. Rugby, hockey, tennis and swimming are central, supported by expert coaching and first-class facilities. Music thrives through one-to-one tuition, ensembles, choirs and regular performances. As an All-Steinway School, Malvern provides outstanding instruments and professional rehearsal spaces. Both areas prepare pupils for competitions, festivals and scholarships at the highest level.

Outdoor Pursuits – adventure that builds character

The school’s unique location allows pupils to take part in a remarkable Outdoor Pursuits programme. Activities include climbing, mountain biking, canoe polo and paddleboarding, alongside adventurous weekend expeditions. Favourites are the challenges Lost and Hunted: in Lost, teams must navigate back to school without maps or technology, while in Hunted pupils use their wits to evade capture in the hills. These experiences encourage resilience, teamwork and creative problem-solving – far from the classroom, and always without a phone in sight.
