Oakham School
Oakham School is a leading fully co-educational boarding and day school for 10–18 year olds. It is an energetic, forward-thinking and unpretentious school. The extensive and green campus is in a picturesque market town, set in the rolling countryside near the nature reserve of Rutland Water.
The school offers both IB and A Levels and it's students achieve impressive academic results. A diverse range of subjects is available both within the IB and at A level. Approximately 10 pupils a year gain entry into Oxbridge with a further 10 pupils entering Medical Schools. A brand new Social Science faculty was opened in 2017 providing excellent teaching facilities for Economics, Business Management and Global Politics. IB results continue to be impressive with pupils gaining offers to the top Universities in the UK, Europe and United States.
Sport is particularly strong at Oakham, especially with regards to hockey and rugby. Sailing and golf are also popular. Oakham has outstanding facilities including 40 acres of grass pitches, two floodlit all-weather pitches, a multi-purpose sports hall, squash and fives courts. The cricket square hosts county matches as well as school fixtures.
The Arts have a strong tradition at Oakham. Especially Drama and music with countless opportunities to perform at all levels. The school stages diverse drama productions throughout the year in it's own theatre: the Queen Elizabeth Theatre (QET). There are numerous choirs, orchestras and bands, as well as high quality instrumental, singing and theory tuition. The school's strength lies in challenging every individual to exceed his or her expectations through encouragement, pastoral support and a diverse range of opportunities.
