Based in 100 acres of beautiful parkland, Merchiston is a Scottish school that offers the English curriculum. It is the only independent all boys boarding school in Scotland.  It is recognised for having a truly global and outward looking dimension, with more than 65% of the students’ boarding and coming from over 20 different countries. Each boarding house caters for a particular age group and the atmosphere and activities are tailored accordingly.

The school achieves excellent results. 2017-18 21% of pupils gained an A* at A level and -50% A*/A – significantly above the national average. As a consequence, most students secure a place at leading British, Ivy League and outstanding international universities.

The co-curricular programme revolves around developing life skills based on leadership and team work. There is a strong emphasis on Music and Drama but the school also prides itself on a ‘sport-for-all’ environment and runs extremely successful Tennis and Golf-Academies. The Tennis Academy is ranked the number 2 World Tennis School by the ISF World Schools Championship 2017-19 whilst the Golf Academy was ranked number 2 UK Ranking Golf School 2017-18.
